Habitat: deciduous woodland

This habitat was rich in bird species but we only encountered this environment in very small amounts during each day. It was found in lowland areas so this means we were familiar with it because it can be seen in Shropshire, with trees such as oaks seen around school site.

Unmistakable, heard before seen ‘kek kek’ call. Male red nape, female black nape. White patches on wings with red parts underneath of rump.

Unmistakable call, orange cheek and breast. Female duller and less conspicuous and duller brown colour.
